Khaled Nordin seeks audience with Johor Regent to clarify MAF and Mindef management issues

Kota Tinggi, August 23 — Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is scheduled to meet with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to discuss administrative matters within the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). The meeting aims to clarify the issues surrounding the leadership of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Regimen Gerak Khas (RGK).

Nordin stated that a clear explanation of the recent statement and decree is necessary. He expressed optimism about the possibility of working together to address the situation, mentioning that a future audience could lead to improvements. On Tuesday, Tunku Mahkota Ismail issued a decree, stating that all parties involved in the planning and development of RGK must adhere to the decisions approved by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, for the benefit of various interests.

During a parade ceremony marking the 61st Anniversary of RGK in Mersing, Ismail also commented on management issues within MINDEF and the leadership of the MAF.
