‘Impressed by their energy & ambition’: PM Modi meets India’s space startups

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with India's space startup members on National Space Day, praising their energy and ambition. He expressed admiration for their insights and optimism on his X account. The Prime Minister asked followers to share their views on India's space program, stating, "Do tell me...what excites you most about India’s space journey?"

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also wished citizens on the occasion, highlighting the day's significance. He celebrated the success of India's Chandrayaan-3 mission that landed near the Moon's south polar region in August 2023. Shah noted that the achievement marked a milestone made by India's scientists.

National Space Day was observed to commemorate the success of Chandrayaan-3 and appreciate the country's progress in space exploration. The three-day celebration was held in Ahmedabad, with notable attendees including Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Gujarat's Cabinet Minister Arjun Modhwadia, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan, and IN-SPACe Chairman Pawan Goenka.

V Narayanan, ISRO Chairman, reminisced about the early days of India's space program and emphasized the country's growth. He highlighted that India is now leading in nine areas of space technology, a stark contrast to the humble beginning where rocket parts were transported using bicycles. Narayanan also praised Chandrayaan-3's ability to inspire millions of Indians worldwide, stating, "One of the major achievements of Chandrayaan-3 was that it inspired 140 crore Indians across the globe."
