‘He’s afraid of everybody’ – Melaye on Tinubu appointing self as campaign chairman

Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has criticized President Bola Tinubu for appointing himself as the chairman of his 2027 campaign council. This decision was announced by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in their presidential campaign council list released on Saturday. Melaye, in a post on his official Facebook page, deemed it abnormal for a presidential candidate to hold the position of chairman for their own campaign team, describing the move as disgraceful.

According to Melaye, Tinubu's choice reveals his lack of trust in his APC colleagues, including fellow governors and ministers, and indicates that he is even afraid of his own shadow. He further stated, "It is a disgrace that President Tinubu doesn't trust anyone. He doesn't trust himself. He is afraid of his own shadow; he doesn't believe in anybody."

Melaye's comments come as the first instance in history where a presidential candidate appoints themselves as the chairman of their campaign council.
