Fake agency: ‘Soludo nominated me’ — Anambra SSG clarifies role

The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, addressed her connection to the Made-in-Nigeria Office, an alleged fake agency recently exposed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the ICPC chairman, uncovered the supposed agency during an investigation of the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council allegedly run by Adeyemi Matthew.

According to Aliyu, the Made-in-Nigeria Office occupied office space within the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) premises. The organization also claimed to have coordinating officials in various states and embassies in nations such as the United States and China. When the controversy unfolded, President Bola Tinubu ordered the suspension of three permanent secretaries linked to the purported agency's activities and demanded the arrest of its alleged Director-General.

Nnake revealed that her involvement with the organization was limited to being nominated as Anambra State's focal person. In January 2026, the purported office contacted the Anambra State Government requesting the nomination of a focal person in each state. Governor Chukwuma Soludo subsequently nominated Nnake in February 2026. The focal persons from the 36 states were then added to a WhatsApp group where discussions about the organization's activities and programs took place.

The agency subsequently requested that Anambra State host the South-East Made-in-Nigeria Fair, which the state government approved. An inaugural meeting was held a couple of weeks ago, featuring the purported national coordinator, followed by the formation of a state committee to prepare for the fair scheduled for December 2-5, 2026.

Nnake clarified that beyond these official interactions, she had no knowledge of, involvement in, or connection to any other activities, claims, or developments attributed to the supposed agency. She emphasized that her role was restricted to official communications regarding her nomination and the preparations for the proposed fair, stating that any information beyond these engagements was completely unknown and uninvolved on her part.
