Erasmus blames errors, missed chances for All Blacks defeat

Springbok Coach Rassie Erasmus has acknowledged that errors and missed chances contributed to his team's 33-16 defeat against the All Blacks in Johannesburg on Saturday. New Zealand dominated the match at Ellis Park, reclaiming their position as world number one and claiming victory in the first of four tests on their Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry tour.

Erasmus expressed regret over his team's inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. "Obviously, when you look back, you see there were a lot of things we didn’t convert," he stated. "But I believe there were two or three big moments where we just let the game slip away from us. Not because we wanted to or wanted to make those mistakes, but because New Zealand was really intense and sharp, forcing those errors upon us."

The loss of key players Kurt-Lee and Andre further compounded the situation. However, Erasmus emphasized that he wouldn't make excuses, acknowledging New Zealand's superior performance in maintaining a tight defense. New Zealand will next take on the Lions in Johannesburg on Tuesday, followed by their second test against South Africa in Cape Town next weekend.
