ED books Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM’s brother in PMLA case

The Enforcement Directorate has charged Inspector Vijay Choudhary, the brother of Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, with money laundering. This has led to Deputy CM Choudhary condemning the move as "selective targeting". The police officer, who is currently suspended, was previously investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for amassing assets without proper justification.

On Friday, the ED accused him of possessing several benami assets. Deputy CM Choudhary, speaking to the media after visiting a government hospital in Jammu, defended his brother's service against militancy and alleged that he is being targeted instead of rewarded. He expressed no fear about the case, but advised that any matter concerning his family should be decided by the judiciary.

The deputy CM also criticized the BJP for seeking Muslim votes during elections but engaging in "Hindu-Muslim politics" afterward, calling it "unfortunate" for both Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.
