Deshaun Watson labelled the ‘worst’ in brutal take from analyst after pre-season game with the Browns

John Fanta, a sharp analyst, branded Deshaun Watson the worst quarterback since 1999 following his abysmal performance in a preseason game against the Bills. Watson completed an unimpressive five passes out of 12, throwing for just 36 yards and picking off a crucial interception in a 31-7 loss. The boos began early and never ceased throughout the game.

Earlier, the analyst took to social media to deliver a scathing assessment: "Browns fans have seen the worst QB play of anybody since 1999. They would have settled for average from Watson. This isn’t even below average play. Worst transaction in league history, full stop. Today’s performance plus the press conference has to be the nail in the coffin."

Watson, who has made only 19 starts since his $230 million, fully guaranteed contract with the Browns, responded to the criticism. He labeled the booing as "disrespectful" and "personal," refusing to let the fans' reaction dictate his feelings. The quarterback even pointed out that the booing was not about his performance, but rather a personal affront.

Watson has been battling through a tumultuous period since arriving in Cleveland, enduring an 11-game suspension, a hefty $5 million fine, and a mandatory treatment program following accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct. Since then, his statistics have been abysmal, with a 4-season record of 9-10, 3,365 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

The Browns, under the guidance of Coach Todd Monken, are already questioning Watson's role moving forward. With rookie Shedeur Sanders ready to take on the starting quarterback position, Watson may face increased competition, even venturing out on the road.
