Delta to support farmers, investors

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his administration's dedication to assisting real farmers and private investors in the state. During a visit to two farms in Okpe and Uvwie Local Government Areas, the governor emphasized that financial backing would take the form of infrastructure development and a conducive environment for enterprises to flourish.

The state's recent investment summit was designed to highlight agricultural opportunities and entice investors. The governor's team is inspecting farms and businesses to identify challenges and assess expansion potential. A 33kV electricity line has been awarded to improve power supply to farms and businesses. Improved road networks will enhance access to farming communities and markets.

The governor also pledged to construct a road connecting the Warri-Sapele Expressway to Amity Global Farms. Small-scale farmers will receive priority support, including fertilizers and other inputs. The governor encouraged residents to take up farming, highlighting its potential for job creation, food security, and crime reduction.

Farm owners expressed gratitude for the visit and outlined challenges such as inadequate financing, delays in supply of inputs and facilities, and access to land that hinder expansion.
