Chandanagar Sub-Inspector, constable in ACB net for taking ₹75,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Sub-Inspector and a constable from the Chandanagar police station for allegedly accepting a ₹75,000 bribe. The accused are Bandela Balraj, SI, and Botta Raghavendra Kumar, a station writer who served as a constable. Balraj demanded and received the full amount from a complainant in exchange for an official favor related to a criminal case, including investigation and filing of a charge sheet.

The ACB recovered ₹20,000 in cash and ₹10,000 through UPI payments already received by Balraj. The accused are accused of acting improperly and dishonestly to gain undue advantage. Both officials have been arrested and will be produced in court for judicial remand. The bureau urges citizens to report instances of bribe demands by public servants through the toll-free number 1064.
