AFL wildcard matches and times confirmed

The Western Bulldogs will take on Collingwood on Friday night at the MCG. The following evening, Melbourne will clash with Carlton in the second wildcard round match at the MCG. Both wildcard matches will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Carlton, currently in 10th spot, are optimistic about their chances of advancing from the wildcard round, aiming to face Melbourne in the knockout clash.

Josh Fraser's team will face the Demons on Saturday night at the MCG, alongside the winner of the Western Bulldogs vs. Collingwood match. If Melbourne emerges victorious, they will travel to Adelaide, while the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood victor will visit Geelong. Conversely, if Carlton triumphs, they will head to Geelong, and the winner of the other wildcard match will play away to Adelaide.

Carlton, after a comprehensive win over Fremantle in round 24, are the strongest team in the lower finals bracket. They boast an unbeaten streak of five matches and 11 wins, including one draw, in their last 14 outings since Fraser took charge in May. Carlton's impressive performance in the wildcard round, following Essendon's removal in 2013, has boosted their confidence.
