Youth watchdog planned to check ‘corruption’, promote transparency in Karimnagar Municipal Corporation limits

A youth-led vigilance watchdog committee is set to be formed in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (MCK) area, according to Congress party representative Velchala Rajender Rao. The committee, composed of young lawyers, RTI activists and IT professionals, will be tasked with overseeing development works, town planning permissions and other civic issues in the MCK limits.

Rao stated that the committee would conduct field-level monitoring, promote transparency in the use of public funds and allow citizens to report alleged irregularities. The committee's contact details will be made public at prominent locations and through social media to encourage complaints regarding civic issues, such as breaches of town planning and building regulations.

Rao mentioned that the recent Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) inspection at the Town Planning section of the MCK had underscored the necessity for a transparent and corruption-free system. He also accused the BJP-ruled MCK of experiencing an increase in corruption complaints compared to the previous BRS administration.
