World : Thai Army Issues Warning After Multiple Attacks In Southern Thailand

Pasir Mas, a town in Kelantan, was rattled by a series of explosions originating from southern Thailand last night. The blasts were so powerful that they could be heard and felt in the town, as reported by residents in Rantau Panjang and Pengkalan Kubor. Azman Ayub, a 40-year-old resident from Kampung Tanjong, recounted his experience, stating that the loud blast shook his walls, causing him to initially think it was a lightning strike.

However, he soon learned that the explosion had occurred in Sungai Golok town. Faridah Osman, a 53-year-old resident from Kampung Banggol Chicha, also confirmed hearing the blasts and later discovered on social media that they were caused by bombs in southern Thailand. She mentioned that it was the first time such a sound had reached Pasir Mas.

The blasts were reported almost simultaneously across at least 12 locations in Thailand's southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, involving explosions, burning tires, vehicles, and attacks on public facilities and businesses. Narathiwat recorded the most incidents, followed by Yala and Pattani. Thai security forces responded by increasing patrols and closing several areas for checks, including parts of Sungai Kolok and Tak Bai in Narathiwat.

Authorities are currently assessing the damage, investigating casualty reports, and conducting inquiries to identify those responsible for the attacks.
