The ballroom, which has been challenged by historical preservation groups, may continue to be built while litigation plays out in lower courts.

President Trump expressed gratitude for the Supreme Court's decision, highlighting the importance of the ballroom for national security. The Military/Ballroom Complex, already 65 percent complete, will be privately financed, though significant taxpayer funds are reportedly being allocated to the project, which could cost up to $600 million.

The project began last year with the demolition of the historic East Wing, which once housed the offices of the First Lady. Despite the legal challenges, the Trump administration argues that the president has the authority to renovate, secure, and protect the White House and its grounds.
