Kiew, Ukraine - A woman was among the casualties following a Russian attack on the capital city, according to official reports. The assault damaged multiple residential buildings and other structures, with windows shattered at a children's hospital and fires breaking out in various locations, as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram.

Earlier, Klitschko had also mentioned four individuals who were injured. The fate of the woman who was killed remained uncertain at first. As a result of the airstrikes, several people were trapped in a shelter and another home. Independent verification of these accounts was initially difficult. A majority of the country was under a state of alert in the preceding night, with Ukrainian air defenses warning of incoming ballistic missiles, missiles and drones. Russia has been waging a destructive war against Ukraine for nearly four and a half years.
