Gujarat's Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) seized 1,250 fake hypertension pills and restricted Rs 1.7 lakh worth of other suspicious medications, according to a statement from Health Minister Praful Pansheriya. The FDCA received a tip-off about a counterfeit version of the drug NICARDIA RETARD 10 Tablet being manufactured and sold in Ahmedabad.

On August 19, an investigation was launched. Over the next three days, FDCA inspected more than 30 firms and medical stores. Within this investigation, they recovered 660 tablets of NICARDIA RETARD 10 Tablets, Batch No. ACG25007, from Kishan Medical Store in Nadiad, Kheda. They also seized 590 tablets from Parshva Medical Agency in Paldi, Ahmedabad, which were sent to Rotary Timbi Medical Stores in Bhavnagar.

The seized drugs are valued at Rs 1.70 lakh. The FDCA is still verifying purchase and sale records of other related businesses and continues its investigation.
