Canada Retaliates with Tariffs of ‘Same Magnitude’ against US, Escalating Trade War

Canada has announced it will impose retaliatory tariffs on US products worth the same value as those imposed by the US. The move comes after trade negotiations between the two countries broke down. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the tariffs, which will affect US steel, dairy products, and electronics, among others, will take effect on September 8. The US had imposed 50% tariffs on around $20 billion worth of Canadian goods, including wine and furniture, earlier in the day.
