Police officers in charge of 'Jang Mi-ran's case' arrested urgently… Other missing persons cases were also closed as false.

A Jeju police officer accused of fabricating the resolution of a missing person case has been urgently arrested for allegedly resolving a different missing person case in the same manner. The Jeju Police Headquarters announced on the 22nd that the Deputy Chief of Jeju South Police Station, ㄱ 경장, had been taken into emergency custody for charges including falsification of official records and hindering administrative affairs due to superior authority.

The police discovered on the 21st that the ㄱ 경장 had concluded a different missing person case on the 2nd of last month as a fabricated resolution, similar to the ㄱ 사건. The officer concluded this case after receiving a call from the ㄱ 사건 in May, informing them of the missing person's contact. However, the communication records between ㄱ 경장 and the missing person were not found.

The officer maintained that he had indeed spoken to the missing person, but his assertion weakened further when another fabricated resolution was confirmed in a different missing person case.

The police have been conducting a large-scale search for ㄱ 사건 since the 20th but have not found any leads on the 23rd. They are expanding their search to the Hamri Port area and receiving citizen tips. ㄱ 사건's missing person is 158 cm tall, weighs 44 kg, has long, black hair, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a dark-colored workout pants, and white Nike slip-ons on the 12th of May.

Meanwhile, the Police Headquarters' National Investigation Department reported that the ㄱ 사걼 family received 17 messages over the past 17 days asking them to send a "ringing sound" to find their missing person, and they even caught 10 teenagers for making prank calls, alleging violation of the Stalking Prevention Act. The police confirmed this story as fake news and urged the public not to believe such reports.
