SOKATWA to Host Interactive Summit for 2027 Candidates in Kafanchan

The Southern Kaduna Trailblazing Women Association (SOKATWA) is set to host an interactive summit for candidates vying in the 2027 general elections, marking its one-year anniversary. Secretary Grace John Zomo revealed this in a statement, emphasizing the event's purpose of creating a platform for women to interact directly with the aspiring leaders and make informed electoral decisions.

SOKATWA highlighted its first year as one of resilience and growth in promoting women's political participation, particularly in Southern Kaduna. They noted several achievements, including holding their inaugural summit in Kafanchan, establishing structures across Local Government Areas and Wards, and organizing advocacy engagements.

The organization also pointed out an increasing number of women aspiring for various political positions ahead of the 2027 elections. SOKATWA stressed that women should no longer be mere vote banks, urging leadership to listen to them, for them to make informed choices, and for women to transition from participation to influence and from influence to leadership.

The summit is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at the New Choice Hall, Kafanchan, offering candidates a chance to present their visions, policies, and plans to women voters. All candidates for the 2027 elections have been invited to participate. SOKATWA aims to assess candidates based on their integrity, competence, capacity, and commitment to women's advancement and societal development.
