Serena Williams will play mixed doubles with Carlos Alcaraz in her return to US Open

Serena Williams will partner with Carlos Alcaraz in mixed doubles at the U.S. Open, marking her return to the tournament after a two-year absence. The U.S. Tennis Association announced Saturday that the powerhouse combination has received a wild card entry. The mixed doubles main draw kicks off on Tuesday, making it Williams' first appearance at the U.S. Open since 2022.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion recently returned to tennis this summer, though she has not yet decided if she will participate in singles events, as the USTA still holds a women's wild card for her if she chooses to compete. In doubles, Williams previously teamed up with her sister Venus at the Cincinnati Open. Meanwhile, Alcaraz, who has been sidelined since April due to a right wrist injury, announced his intention to defend his U.S. Open singles title.
