Serena Williams, Alcaraz unite in US Open mixed doubles

Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz have been paired for the US Open mixed doubles tournament. The US Tennis Association revealed the mixed doubles lineups, emphasizing Williams' return to the US Open after her absence since 2022. At 44 years old, Williams is making her comeback, having won the 1998 US Open mixed doubles title with Max Mirnyi.

Alcaraz, a seven-time Slam singles champion, joins her in this historic partnership. Alongside Williams and Alcaraz, Czech duo Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik, as well as Americans Emma Navarro and Tommy Paul, secured wildcard entries into the main draw. In a related development, Jack Draper and Elena Rybakina have been replaced by Jessica Pegula and Taylor Fritz, who were immediately reassigned to the main draw.

Diana Shnaider, who was left without a partner when Daniil Medvedev withdrew, will have the opportunity to find a new partner and compete before the draw is finalized on Sunday, ahead of the qualifying matches set to begin on Monday.
