Sarawak polls could come 'very soon', says PBB Women's Wing

The Sarawak state election may occur soon, according to Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, the chief of the PBB Women's Wing. She stated that the 19th State Legislative Assembly, which began operations on February 14, 2022, would be dissolved at the conclusion of its five-year term if not dismissed earlier. This means that preparations must be made promptly, as the election could take place at any time.

Sharifah Hasidah emphasized that the PBB Women's Wing must remain vigilant and ready, playing a crucial role in mobilizing voters and ensuring the party secures victory. She stressed the importance of understanding voter demographics to effectively plan vote-control and mobilization efforts. A Sarawak deputy premier had previously hinted that the next state election might be held within 100 days, urging party members to prepare for a more intense period of political activity.

The Gabungan Parti Sarawak, led by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, stated that they were prepared to face the election with the current number of seats or an increased number following a proposed redelineation exercise.
