Renault Captur gutted by fire after crashing into Honda City on SPE

KUALA LUMPUR — A Renault Captur SUV was completely consumed by flames following a collision with another vehicle on the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) on its way to Mid Valley this afternoon. The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Control Centre received an urgent call through the MERS999 line at approximately 12.37pm.

In response, Senior Fire Officer I Muhammad Amirudin Mohd Hassan, leading a team of nine firefighters from the Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Station, rushed to the scene. They deployed one Fire Rescue Tender and two Rapid Intervention Motorcycle units to combat the blaze.

Initial investigations indicate that the Renault Captur collided with the rear of a Honda City, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Firefighters swiftly launched their operation, successfully bringing the fire under control and extinguishing it completely by 1.21pm. The fire department confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the accident. Authorities are now conducting further investigations to ascertain the precise cause of the fire.
