PTI to move contempt plea in SC over Imran’s hospital transfer: Shafi

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information and Public Relations Minister Shafi Jan has accused the federal government of violating Supreme Court orders regarding the transfer of PTI leader Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Pims hospital. Jan asserts this move was a contempt of the judiciary, aimed at undermining the Constitution and rule of law.

The minister claims the federal government sent Imran back to Adiala Jail after a short stay at Pims, demonstrating the rulers' cowardice and fear. Jan intends to file an application for contempt proceedings against the federal government over its "illegal and authoritarian conduct and violation of judicial orders". He asserts the government is playing with Imran Khan's health, which is a serious crime.

The federal government's continuous violation of the Constitution is intolerable, Jan says, emphasizing that the country cannot progress without the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law. Jan also dismisses claims by federal information minister Atta Tarar about PTI workers outside Shifa Hospital, accusing them of misleading the nation about Imran Khan's health.

PTI's street movement, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, continues unabated, with Afridi visiting Hangu and Buner today and tomorrow, and plans to expand across the country. Jan also mentions preparations for the PTI's September 27 long march on Islamabad, which will be accelerated. The movement for Imran's release from jail and respect for the Constitution and rule of law will persist vigorously at all levels.
