Pims says 2 specialists from Shifa International Hospital participated in assessment of Imran's eye

Islamabad: Dr Uzma Khan, after a brief meeting with her brother Imran Khan during his eye check-up at Pims, expressed her concern about his mental state. She stated that Imran was suffering from severe anxiety and felt as if he would be 'killed through isolation', comparing his situation to that of former Egyptian ruler Mohamed Morsi.

Dr Uzma also mentioned that her brother was denied any human interaction, which he described as a form of 'mental torture', and that he had not been able to access newspapers or television for the past 10 months.

While in Pims, Dr Uzma said that Imran was in a 'fit' condition, with normal blood pressure and improved vision, though he only had a small haemorrhage remaining. However, she quoted Imran as saying that a doctor who examined him on Aug 10 had noted that he was suffering from 'severe anxiety due to mental torture in solitary confinement', which had caused his high blood pressure.

Imran had asked his sister to request Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to expedite the movement for his release after prison doctors did not listen to his complaints about his health. As a result, the PTI-led opposition alliance announced plans for a full-fledged protest on Sept 27. However, the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) later claimed that two specialists from Shifa International Hospital had participated in Imran Khan's eye assessment, while other examinations were performed by Pims' own specialists.
