Police arrest five suspected telecom vandals in Lagos, recover truckload of iron rods

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended five individuals suspected of vandalizing telecommunications infrastructure and stealing iron rods in the Ibeju-Lekki area. This operation is part of a broader effort to combat vandalism and theft of vital structures across the city. The arrested suspects, identified as Mohammed Shaibu, Musa Zakari, Abdullahi Bala, Salisu Musa, and Yahuza Bala, were allegedly caught in possession of the stolen materials in a truck.

They have been taken into custody pending further investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba. The police are actively pursuing additional suspects and expanding their inquiry to understand the full impact of these crimes. The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, expressed the department's commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and urged citizens to assist in reporting any suspicious activities to prevent further incidents.
