MP Higher Education Department To File ATR On 28 Action Points

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: The Madhya Pradesh higher education department is set to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) covering 28 points on the Knowledge Economy sub-theme at the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries. This comes as the department deals with various challenges, including a shortage of teaching staff in universities, insufficient manpower for modern courses, and a significant number of vacant posts.

The Action Points cover improving access to higher education, strengthening quality and excellence, preparing a tech-ready workforce, advancing internationalization of education, developing new-age curricula in agriculture, expanding research and innovation, and addressing faculty vacancies in state public universities. A senior department official highlighted the major challenge of vacant posts, with at least 70-80% of vacancies in universities and roster problems in colleges.

The department is also working on leveraging PhD research, turning Bhopal and Indore divisions into education hubs, setting up special cells for varsities and colleges, and establishing 16 centers of excellence.
