Members of 'war government' must publicly rule out running in upcoming elections – Yatsenyuk

According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, government officials in wartime should prioritize the well-being of the nation over their personal political ambitions. At a roundtable discussion titled "35 Years of Restored Independence: Unity Around the Flag," Yatsenyuk, who served as Prime Minister from 2014 to 2016, emphasized that members of the current and future Cabinets of Ministers must declare publicly that they will not seek re-election in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

This declaration, Yatsenyuk argued, should become a part of national legislation to ensure that government officials can focus on making decisions that benefit the country without worrying about their approval ratings or electoral prospects.

Yatsenyuk also stressed the importance of a clear 12-month action plan for the government, outlining specific tasks and objectives that would enable parliament to evaluate their performance over the next year. He argued that merely having a government is not sufficient; rather, a broader framework of unity across all branches of government is necessary for success.

This includes the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, as well as the country's military leadership. Yatsenyuk referred to this ideal government as a "government of national unity," supported by the Ukrainian people.
