Media urged to help shape Constituency Games implementation

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has enlisted media involvement to aid in the formulation of the Constituency Games, a platform aimed at encouraging youth participation in organized sports and nurturing homegrown talent in Ghana. This engagement, held at the ESP Hotel in Accra, brought together media professionals, NSA representatives, and other sporting community stakeholders.

The meeting preceded the upcoming Constituency Games, which are designed to provide young Ghanaians with organized sporting opportunities, facilitate talent discovery, and operate at a community level. The exercise coincided with the recent formation of the NSA's Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee, given the role of rallying resources and establishing strategic alliances to bolster sports development.

Samson Deen, Chairman of the Committee, highlighted the necessity of media engagement in shaping the initiative, stating that the media should participate in decision-making processes within the National Sports Authority. Deen challenged the audience to scrutinize the initiative's feasibility beyond Accra, ensuring equitable community engagement, accessibility, and resilience against public scrutiny. He implored the audience to highlight weaknesses and propose stronger solutions during this critical feedback phase.

The committee emphasized the significance of media and stakeholder feedback in refining the Constituency Games, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and responsiveness to community needs across Ghana. Expected to serve as a pivotal avenue for grassroots involvement, talent identification, and overall sports development, the Constituency Games aim to extend organized sporting activities beyond Ghana’s principal cities.
