'Maa Ke Liye Jee Lo': Sarpanch’s Plea Fails As iPhone EMI Dispute Turns Fatal, Teen, Parents Die In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar | VIDEO

A tragic incident occurred in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Friday, August 21, 2026, when a family of three lost their lives in a fall from Khawadya Hill in the Tisgaon area. The victims were identified as 19-year-old Kunal Chandgude, his parents Murlidhar Chandgude, aged 48, and Sangita Chandgude. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Waluj MIDC police station.

According to reports, Kunal had purchased an iPhone but struggled to afford the monthly installments. A disagreement over the payment led to an argument between Kunal and his father. Following the dispute, the teenager went to Khawadya Hill around 10 am. His parents soon followed and tried to persuade him to return home. The police, villagers, and fire brigade personnel arrived at the scene and spent nearly three hours attempting to rescue Kunal.

Despite their efforts, including the placement of a safety net, Kunal continued to move near the cliff's edge.

During the standoff, villagers, including former Tisgaon sarpanch Sanjay Jadhav, repeatedly appealed to Kunal to step away from the cliff's edge. Jadhav made an emotional plea, urging Kunal to reconsider and save his life by saying, "Maa ke liye jee lo na!" (For the sake of your mother, live!). However, Kunal refused to move, stating, "No, I have to die. That remains the only way."

Despite the efforts to comfort and persuade Kunal, he remained determined to take his own life. His father, Murlidhar Chandgude, moved closer to his son in an attempt to bring him back from the edge. Unfortunately, both Kunal and his father fell off the cliff around 1 pm, sustaining fatal injuries. Tragically, even Sangita Chandgude witnessed the incident and followed her husband and son over the cliff, also losing her life in the tragic event.

The bodies were later recovered, and the police initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the deaths. The local community was left deeply shocked by the incident, which began with a seemingly minor dispute over an iPhone EMI payment.
