Keralam Opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan rejects hawala allegations, claims family being targeted

Pinarayi Vijayan, leader of the Keralam opposition, firmly rejected allegations of hawala dealings involving him, his daughter T. Veena, or any other family member, stating that his "hands are clean and will remain clean." Responding to the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) money laundering investigation, which included Ms. Veena, Mr. Vijayan emphasized that his daughter had cooperated with the investigation and would continue to provide any requested information.

He asserted that neither he, his daughter, nor any family member had engaged in hawala transactions, firmly believing in their innocence. Mr. Vijayan alleged that Ms. Veena was targeted due to her familial relationship to him, stating that "she is being targeted because she is my daughter. There are people who have been after me and targeting me."

He noted that his daughter was "not a very rich person" and the discussed amount was not particularly large. Mr. Vijayan questioned the ED's decision to issue a press release, stating that the agency typically posts such information on its official website. He reiterated Ms. Veena's cooperation with the investigation and her willingness to provide further information if requested.
