Keralam CM Satheesan hails Cardinal Cleemis as guiding light for society

M.K. Raghavan, a Member of Parliament from Kozhikode, has called on the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Railway Board Chairman to revoke their recent decision to shift the Mangaluru railway division from the Palakkad division to the Mysuru division. The MP described the August 21 order as "unjust" and warned that it would have a detrimental impact on railway development in the Malabar region.

Raghavan argued that the decision would result in a loss of revenue for the Palakkad division from freight operations at Mangaluru port, as well as earnings from major stations like Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction. He warned that the financial strength of the Palakkad division could be compromised, potentially hindering the launch of new train services and other development projects in northern Kerala.

The MP highlighted that several train services currently pass through Mangaluru, and the separation could create challenges in introducing or extending these services. Raghavan emphasized that the decision would ultimately threaten the very existence of the Palakkad division and hinder its development prospects for passengers in northern Kerala.

He also accused the BJP leadership in Keralam of neglecting the Malabar region when it comes to introducing new services and development projects, and threatened to organize a mass protest against the decision.
