ISKCON Tirupati launches Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations

The ISKCON Temple in Tirupati inaugurated the festivities for Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2026 on August 22, 2026. The poster announcement for the event took place at the Conference Hall in Gouranga Bhavan of the temple. Vice-chairman Roopesh Chaitanya Prabhu, along with other officials, attended the event. A series of devotional and spiritual programs will be held until Janmashtami, which falls on September 4.

The Radha Govinda Dolotsava celebrations, a key component of the festival, will commence on August 23 and continue every evening until August 28, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the temple. This seva offers devotees a chance to actively engage in Krishna consciousness. Special observances include the Appearance Day of Lord Balarama on August 28, and Gopuja Mahotsavam and Adhivas Mahotsavam on September 3, as part of the preparations for the main festival.

Cow protection and service to cows are of paramount importance in Lord Krishna's teachings and pastimes. The Janmashtami celebration will coincide with the 130th Appearance Anniversary of Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, on September 4. Temple members explained that Janmashtami is a sacred occasion commemorating the divine birth of Lord Sri Krishna.
