Hernández, Marsee homer in the Marlins’ 4-2 win over the Nationals

Heriberto Hernández and Jakob Marsee each hit solo home runs, while Eury Pérez pitched five innings, as the Miami Marlins defeated the Washington Nationals 4-2 in a Saturday game. The Marlins' home record improved to 40-25, marking their first time reaching 40 wins since 2023, when they set a franchise record with 46 wins. Pérez (7-9) surrendered just one earned run on three hits while striking out four batters.

Calvin Faucher closed out the game with a save in the ninth inning, working without a hit. Otto Lopez contributed to the Marlins' lead with a single in the first inning, followed by Hernández's left field homer in the second to make it 3-0. Marsee added his eighth home run of the season in the fourth inning. The Nationals' Jake Irvin (2-8) allowed all four runs on six hits over six innings.

Washington scored a run in the fourth inning due to a throwing error by Lopez, and Dylan Crews had an RBI double in the fifth inning. Marlins right-hander Janson Junk (6-8, 4.37) was set to face National left-hander Jackson Kent (0-1, 9.39 ERA) in Sunday's series finale.
