GRIDCo announces power interruptions in parts of Greater Accra for tower repairs

GRIDCo, the Ghana Grid Company Limited, has informed the public that scheduled power outages will occur in certain areas of the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, August 23. The company issued this announcement on Saturday, August 22, to explain the need for maintenance on a damaged transmission tower. The affected tower is situated on the 161kV Tema–Achimota transmission line and suffered damage after a nearby tanker explosion.

GRIDCo's engineers and technical teams have planned to commence the repair work between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The company emphasized that the interruption in electricity supply is necessary to ensure the safety of their personnel and the general public during the critical repair process. By temporarily cutting off power, GRIDCo aims to provide the necessary conditions for the technical teams to complete the essential repairs and restore the transmission line's integrity.

The Ghana Grid Company is collaborating closely with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to minimize the impact of the outage on affected customers and communities. They have apologized for any inconvenience caused by the power interruptions and have called upon the public to exercise patience, understanding, and cooperation as the emergency works progress. GRIDCo assured the public that they are doing everything within their power to minimize disruptions and restore normal service as quickly as possible.
