Assam headmistress to be conferred National Award by President

Manisha Khetrapal, headmistress of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya in Rangiya, Assam, is set to receive the National Teachers’ Award 2026. The prestigious recognition honors her for her innovative contributions to enhancing education in the foundational and preparatory stages, in alignment with the rollout of the National Education Policy-2020.

Prior to her current role, Khetrapal spent eight years at Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Guwahati, where she spearheaded Project DivyaMitra, a collaborative initiative aimed at meaningful inclusion, in partnership with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). Khetrapal has also been a vital resource person for EduLead, a project that trained 382 principals and head teachers from PM SHRI schools in Assam, facilitated by a collaboration between Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Samagra Shiksha Assam.

Her dedication lies in ensuring that children in the Northeast region receive ample learning opportunities, whether through visits to the India International Science Festival at IIT Guwahati or organizing delegations from The Japan Foundation. Khetrapal holds a PhD in Inclusive Education from Gauhati University and has shared her expertise at numerous national-level seminars.
