Ex-West Brom midfielder dies at 25

Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Quevin Castro has passed away at the young age of 25 after collapsing during a pre-season friendly match in Portugal. During the match, Castro, who was representing Real Sport Clube against Estrela da Amadora, suffered a collapse in the first half. Medical staff provided immediate treatment to the player but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital.

The Lisbon Football Association confirmed his demise in an official statement. Real Sport Clube, his team at the time, described Castro as an integral part of the club's family.

The tragic incident led to the immediate stoppage of the match. West Bromwich Albion expressed their profound grief over the news. Castro joined the Premier League club in 2021, impressing during a trial and making his debut against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. He also made a Championship appearance against Swansea City before experiencing various loan spells with Burton Albion, Notts County, Gateshead, and York City. Prior to returning to Portugal, he had played for several other English clubs.

The cause of Castro's death has not been officially disclosed. Castro had just completed his 25th birthday just six days before his tragic passing.
