Dispatch rider dies in Lagos multiple crash

A dispatch rider was killed in a multiple road traffic accident in Lagos on Saturday, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). The incident occurred at Ijesha, Mile 2, involving two trucks - a FAW truck and an Iveco truck - and the dispatch rider. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency's Eagle Response Team arrived promptly at the scene.

Their investigation revealed that the accident resulted from reckless driving and improper use of the road by both truck drivers. The FAW truck collided with the Iveco truck while both were vying for right of way, and the Iveco truck subsequently struck the dispatch rider from behind. The dispatch rider tragically lost his life in the accident.

The two trucks were removed from the main carriageway and parked at a designated layby. The Nigerian Police Force from Okota Division took the deceased's remains to the morgue for identification and further procedures. LASEMA evacuated the scene to prevent further obstruction and to ensure unimpeded traffic flow. The agency's Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, expressed condolences to the deceased's family and pledged the Lagos State Government's commitment to road safety. He also urged commercial drivers to cease reckless driving, wrongful overtaking, and lane dragging.
