Bronny James Gives First Reaction to LeBron James Leaving Lakers

Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, recently responded to his father's decision to leave the Los Angeles Lakers for the Philadelphia 76ers. The 19-year-old, who has been with the Lakers since being drafted 55th overall in 2024, was asked about his father's move by a fan while on a trip with the team to Slovenia for a camp organized by fellow player Luka Doncic.

Bronny's brief response was concise: "It's whatever; it's my dad." Despite sharing the court in multiple games, including the Lakers' playoff series last year, the father-son duo are unlikely to play together again. LeBron has no plans to switch teams again. The Lakers, however, remain committed to Bronny, having developed him since his debut under coach JJ Redick.

The team did not trade him this offseason, signaling their belief in his potential despite his father's departure. LeBron will visit Bronny and the Lakers on Christmas for the first time as a rival and host them in Philadelphia on March 4. Bronny and his father recently began playing golf together, along with Lakers teammate Austin Reaves, who posted a photo of their outing at the Bandon Dunes Golf Course.

With LeBron no longer on the roster, Reaves will become the longest-tenured player on the team this season. He joined the Lakers in 2021 as an undrafted player on a two-way deal, quickly becoming an integral part of the team under LeBron's mentorship.
