Baba Suwe told me he’d die, says late actor’s daughter

Halimat Omidina, daughter of late Yoruba actor Baba Suwe, recounted the emotional conversation with her father before his death. The veteran actor, known as Babatunde Omidina, would have turned 68 on August 22, 2021. She wished she had created more memories and hugged him more firmly when he mentioned his impending death. Baba Suwe had revealed to her that he was going to die two days before his passing, but she did not take his warning seriously, thinking he was joking. She only received a call the next day, informing her of his deteriorating condition.

Halimat arrived to find her father unable to speak, and he passed away an hour later. Baba Suwe, a beloved figure in the Yoruba film industry, had a career that made him one of the most recognizable comic actors in the genre. His notable roles included Iru Esin, Baba Londoner, Oju Oloju, and Baba Jaiye Jaiye. Halimat, the daughter of both Baba Suwe and late actress Omoladun Omidina, received an outpouring of sympathy from social media users who paid tribute to the late actor.
