Baba Suwe told me he’d die, says late actor’s daughter

Halimat Omidina, the daughter of late Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, fondly known as Baba Suwe, has shared her emotional last conversation with her father before his demise. The model and content creator marked her father's posthumous birthday on Saturday, August 22, by reminiscing about the day. Baba Suwe would have celebrated his 68th birthday on that day.

In a heartfelt post on her X account, @superstarrlimaa, Halimat expressed how different the day felt without the celebrations and memories she cherished with her father. She wished she had made more memories and hugged him tighter when he shared news of his impending death. Halimat mentioned that she initially dismissed his words as a joke, thinking the veteran actor was merely joking.

However, the next day, she received a call to return home as her father's condition had worsened. Upon arriving, she discovered that Baba Suwe could no longer speak, and he passed away an hour later. The iconic actor died on November 22, 2021, at the age of 63, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most recognizable comic actors in the Yoruba film industry.

Known for his energetic performances and comic delivery, Baba Suwe appeared in numerous Yoruba films, gaining immense popularity after starring in movies like Iru Esin, Baba Londoner, Oju Oloju, and Baba Jaiye Jaiye.
