나경원, 민주 ‘이진숙 징계안’에 “5·18 유공자 공개 요구도 ‘입틀막’할텐가”

National Assembly member Na Kyung-won expressed strong opposition to Democratic Party Chairwoman Jeon Jin-sook's proposal to investigate the conduct of 5·18 activist Oh Se-hoon. Na Kyung-won argued that the proposal amounted to "massive political tyranny" and would only serve to further oppress the spirit of the 5·18 democratic uprising.

Na Kyung-won stated that the Democratic Party's call for a vote of no confidence against Oh Se-hoon was "questionable" and that they were attempting to use the issue as a weapon against the opposition. The National Assembly member pointed out that the proposed legislation targets any member of Congress who has "significantly distorted historical facts related to democratic movements and state violence."

He further explained that targeting Oh Se-hoon, who participated in a scholarly forum discussing the 5·18 movement, was "directly targeting a member of Congress involved in a historic and significant democratic movement." Na Kyung-won questioned whether the Democratic Party would be willing to punish the party for violating the spirit of the 5·18 movement by silencing the voices of its activists.
