국힘 내부서도 이진숙 ‘5·18 포럼’ 비판 봇물 “역사 앞에 사과해야”

Within the National Power, criticism against Kim Byung-soo, a member of the National Power Party, is growing rapidly. Nation Power Party's senior delegate, Park Seo-min, posted on Facebook on the 15th, stating that "incorrect historical perception and statements require clear responsibility and retreat from the group." He emphasized that "the most important value we must uphold is free democracy," and argued that "disputing or damaging the historical significance of the 5·18 Democratic Movement, which the nation and its citizens value, is the act of undermining our own freedom democracy."

Park warned that if such incidents persist within the National Power Party, it would cause further political damage to the party seeking to regain public trust. Fellow National Power Party delegate, Han Ji-ah, also expressed a similar sentiment on the same day via Facebook, saying, "There are certain limits to the freedom of discussion."

She added that "attacks on the lives of citizens sacrificed through state violence and their families' pain are not just matters of debate or academic disagreement; they are a separate issue." The National Power Party held a "5·18 Democratic Movement Re-introduced National Assembly Public Forum" on the 13th, with prominent new lite scholars, including former Seoul University professor, Choi Eung-hun, leading the discussion.

The forum saw heated arguments and protests when some speakers attempted to dispute and mock the 5·18 Democratic Movement.
