Wontumi’s campaign team picks up NPP National Chairman nomination forms while he’s in prison

The campaign team of imprisoned New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman contender, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has acquired nomination forms on his behalf to facilitate his pursuit of the party's leading role. A statement from the team revealed that the forms were collected to fully conclude the nomination procedure.

They expressed gratitude to supporters for their ongoing backing, stating, "The Wontumi Campaign Team has today successfully picked up the nomination forms on behalf of Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi). This is simply to formally complete the nomination process on his behalf. With God and the people behind us, we move.

Your support, prayers and dedication are what keep us going. Thank you all for your continued support and commitment." The announcement was also verified by the Communications Director of the campaign team, Ewuradwoa Coleman, who stated, "Yes indeed, the campaign team has picked up forms on behalf of Chairman Wontumi. We are continuing his bid in the National Chairmanship race."

This action occurred despite Mr. Boasiako's current imprisonment and the ongoing legal challenge against his conviction and sentence. His legal team has submitted a bail application while his appeal is being reviewed. Boasiako is currently serving a 20-year prison term after being found guilty by Accra High Court Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay for offenses connected to illegal mining activities at the Samreboi concession in the Western Region.

The sentences for the various charges are concurrent, resulting in a total prison sentence of 20 years. Despite his incarceration, the campaign team remains resolute in pursuing Wontumi's candidacy in the NPP National Chairman race.
