UAE-Iran trade relationship becomes key test of Trump’s wartime strategy

Several US products could become more expensive due to the 50% tariffs imposed on Canadian goods by the Trump administration. The tariffs went into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday following the breakdown of US-Canada trade talks. This action was taken to "offset Canadian discrimination," a claim made by Trump during his announcement of the new tariffs.

American consumers may see higher prices for a range of Canadian-made products, including whisky like Crown Royal, Canadian Club, and Black Velvet. Crystal Head Vodka, known for its distinctive bottle design, could also face the tariffs. Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, made in Canada but consumed in the US, may become pricier as higher costs for Canadian whisky could be passed on. Beer and wine from Canada could also see an increase in price.

Hockey equipment, including sticks and gloves from brands like Bauer Hockey, CCM Hockey, and Sherwood, could be affected, though not all products from these companies may be covered. Dairy products such as milk, cream, and powdered dairy products are on the list, though cheese is not included. Cheese was part of the rationale behind Trump's decision to impose the tariffs, citing Canada's treatment of US-made cheese as an issue.

Motorcycles and essential oils are among other products that could see higher costs. Clothing made in Canada may also become more expensive if importers pass the additional costs to consumers. Plants and related products imported into the US could also see an increase in price. Essential oils are also included in the tariff list, adding another consumer product category that could face higher import costs.
