Tiktoker under police probe after allegedly stepping on Sarawak flag

A TikToker is currently under police investigation after a video surfaced showing him stepping on the Ibu Pertiwi flag, an act deemed disrespectful to Sarawak. Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu revealed that two reports have been filed regarding the incident. The case is being probed under Section 504 of the Penal Code, which deals with intentional insults meant to provoke public unrest, and could result in up to two years imprisonment or a fine if convicted.

Additionally, the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 is being invoked under Section 233 for the misuse of network facilities and services to transmit online content that is offensive or indecent. The maximum penalty under this section is a RM50,000 fine or a year in prison. Alexson urged the public to avoid actions that could incite public anger and unrest.

He also cautioned that the TikToker has a history of controversial behavior, including harassing cosplayers at anime events. The individual involved is reported to be wheelchair-bound.
