In a midnight operation along the Barak River in Jiribam's Tupidhar area, Assam Rifles and Boro Bekra Police apprehended six suspected smugglers attempting to evade authorities by jumping into the river. The operation was initiated after Assam Rifles troops detected a suspicious country-made boat moving across the river at night.
Despite poor visibility, the pursuit was successful and the boat's occupants were seized. The intercepted haul included Yaba tablets and heroin, valued at approximately ₹27.288 crore. The seizure also included six mobile phones, four side bags, and the country-made boat used to transport the contraband. The six individuals were handed over to Boro Bekra Police for further investigation and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act.
The joint operation between Assam Rifles and Boro Bekra Police successfully interdicted a narcotics consignment smuggled from Mizoram into Assam.
