'Rushed her to hospital': MP son's 1st reaction on Aston Martin crash that killed woman

HYDERABAD: Lingamaneni Sanjush, the son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP and Jana Sena functionary Lingamaneni Ramesh, claimed on Friday that he did not abandon the scene following the August 16 car crash that resulted in the fatal injury of 26-year-old mall employee Bharati Mukhi. Sanjush recounted that he swiftly transported Bharati to Apollo Hospital in his own automobile to guarantee she received prompt medical care.

Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries after undergoing treatment, he shared. Moreover, Sanjush stated that he personally proceeded to the police station following the incident, informed officers about the event, and cooperated fully with the investigation. The Madhapur police had lodged charges against Sanjush, aged 21, for negligent and reckless driving after his Aston Martin allegedly collided with Bharati near Inorbit Mall around 3 pm on August 16.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Bharati, a salesclerk at Lifestyle store within the mall, was crossing the road when she was struck by the vehicle, sustaining a severe head injury. The complaint submitted by the Lifestyle manager detailed how Bharati and a colleague had ventured to a nearby restaurant to procure sustenance and were en route back to the mall when the collision occurred.

Sanjush allegedly transported Bharati to Apollo Hospital within the same vehicle, where medical professionals pronounced her death. Police registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to causing death through a rash or negligent act that does not constitute culpable homicide and is punishable by up to five years imprisonment and a fine.

Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police Ch Sridhar stated that no arrest had been made as the offense was bailable. The police had issued notices to Sanjush, and he tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Expressing his sorrow over Bharati's demise, Sanjush conveyed his condolences to her family and requested that investigators take into account the circumstances surrounding the accident, his actions to take Bharati to the hospital, his subsequent visit to the police station, and the results of the medical tests while evaluating the case.

Cyberabad police commissioner M Ramesh Reddy affirmed that all due procedures had been adhered to in the case. The vehicle involved in the incident is registered to Honer Prime Housing. Sanjush, who serves as a director in Black Ridge Energy and Capital Energy, pursued computer science studies at the University of Texas at Dallas in the United States. An email sent to Sanjush and Lingamaneni Ramesh seeking a response remained unaddressed.
