RM12.8 juta barangan seludup dirampas dalam 2 operasi polis

In two joint operations targeting smuggling and breach of import regulations in Kuala Lumpur and Klang, Selangor, the police seized goods worth approximately RM12.8 million and arrested five individuals. Timbalan Pengarah Keselamatan Dalam Negeri dan Ketenteraman Awam (Gerakan/Operasi) Bukit Aman Muhammad Abdul Halim revealed that Operation Taring Alpha 2 on August 5th led to the arrest of three individuals, including two from Myanmar and one local.

This operation resulted in the seizure of various alcoholic beverages and food and drink products from China, totaling around RM5.1 million. Among the seized items were 112 cans and 3,696 bottles of alcoholic beverages, valued at approximately RM2.57 million, alongside 4,092 bottles of Zongpi CR brand alcoholic beverages worth about RM2.7 million. Additionally, various food and beverage products from China were seized, valued at around RM56,000.

Operation Taring Alpha 5 in Klang resulted in the arrest of two local men and the seizure of goods worth around RM7.7 million. The seized items included alcoholic beverages from China valued at RM2.1 million, 245 packs of white cigarettes and 49,000 sticks valued at nearly RM300,000, and 1,800 silk scarves worth RM1.8 million. The initial investigation found that both premises were believed to be used as temporary storage and collection centers before the goods were distributed to local customers.

Most of the goods were believed to have been imported through the port using false documentation, and the operation was reportedly active for over six months.

Muhammad Abdul Halim stated that the success of both operations was a result of collaboration between PDRM and various agencies through information sharing and risk management. During January to August 21 of the current year, the Department of Customs and Licensing (KDNKA) Bukit Aman conducted 240 raids across the country, arresting 413 individuals and seizing a total value of RM314 million in goods.
