Rapid KL to run 24‑hour trains and buses for Merdeka Eve and National Day crowds

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 - Selected rail and bus services operated by Rapid KL will operate around the clock on Aug 30 and 31 in preparation for the 2026 National Day celebrations. All rail services, including the Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Kuala Lumpur Monorail, will extend their operating hours. Trains will also run more frequently and adjust as needed based on demand and station conditions.

Additional trains may be added if necessary. The Sunway BRT Line, several bus routes, and Rapid KL On-Demand (ROD) will also run 24 hours, offering more transportation options during the celebration period. To assist public movement to Putrajaya for the events, 103 buses will provide free shuttle services along two routes - MS01 from Putrajaya Sentral Station to Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Precinct 2, and MS02 from Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) to Jalan Tun Hussein, Precinct 3.

The MS01 route will operate from 2pm Aug 30 to 2pm Aug 31, while the MS02 will run from 4am Aug 31 to 2pm. More than 5,000 front-line staff from different units will be deployed on both days to manage crowd flow and ensure passenger safety at stations and key locations. Rapid KL urges the public to use public transportation to reach event locations to reduce traffic congestion and to plan journeys in advance, ensure sufficient Touch 'n Go card balance, and follow staff instructions, especially in crowded areas.

Visit Rapid KL's social media or www.myrapid.com.my for updated information on the operations and services during the 2026 National Day celebrations.
