Rajkumar Santoshi on Batwara 1947 earning 3x less than Aawarapan 2: ‘Will congratulate them’

On August 14, Sunny Deol's film Batwara 1947 and Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 faced off at theaters. By the end of their first week, Awarapan 2 had emerged victorious, earning three times more than Batwara 1947, according to Sacnilk. Batwara 1947 collected Rs 39.87 crore in India, while Awarapan 2 grossed Rs 113.5 crore. In a recent interview, Batwara 1947's director, Rajkumar Santoshi, stated that the clash with Awarapan 2 did not affect its box office performance.

He expressed his congratulations to the team behind Awarapan 2, praising their success and expressing his belief that the film was well-received by audiences. Santoshi also addressed the topic of Sunny Deol playing a Muslim character in Batwara 1947, describing it as a unique challenge for the actor. He further noted that the film represented a reunion with Deol after their successful collaborations in Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak.
